The research group (Lehrstuhl) of Prof. Baayen investigates the quantitative and probabilistic aspects of language and language processing. The central research question is how speakers learn the complex non-deterministic variational patterns apparent in language use. This question is addressed from different perspectives:

-> Experimental Psychology

-> Computational Modeling

-> Corpus Linguistics

-> Phonetics

-> Morphology

-> Statistical Methods for the Language Sciences

The research group is a member of the Tuebingen Center for Linguistics (TüCSL) and works in close collaboration with the Center for Comparative Psycholinguistics (CCP) at the University of Alberta, Edmonton.
