Abstract
A general statistical method for improving the performance of
compiled code is presented, along with its preliminary application
and evaluation to three sources of non-determinism that arise with
natural language processing in ALE (Carpenter and Penn 1996), a logic
programming language based on the logic of typed feature structures
(Carpenter 1992).
